About

HI IM MICHAELA, BUT MY GAL PALS CALL ME MIC!

My passion for fitness stems back to when I was a young girl chasing after soccer balls. I have always been quite active, and since I was able to walk I immersed myself in soccer, swimming, dance, mixed martial arts, and track & field. When I was 9 years old I fell in love with the Equestrian Sport. I bought (thanks dad) my first horse Roper when I was 12 years old. We spent multiple years successfully competing in the jumper arena together.

The Equestrian World is very demanding and has since taught me patience, kindness, resilience, and the ability to remain humble. I also developed a level of confidence that can only be cultivated from handling a 1000lb animal with a mind of its own. I supplemented my riding endurance by running 6-10km bi-daily for 4 years, and qualified for the BC Summer Games in 2010. Twelve years and many life lessons later, I can still proudly call this wild little ginger man my partner in crime. He has since moved all over BC and Alberta with me, and now we reside in beautiful Campbell River located on Vancouver Island, Canada.

I discovered the weight room after my high school graduation. I focused on nourishing my body, cultivating confidence, and reducing my struggles with anxiety. I prioritized strengthening both my body and mind, developing a fierce love and appreciation for what my body was capable of. I vowed to take care of her to the best of my abilities for the rest of my life.

In 2014 I turned nineteen and completed the Electrical Foundations program from North Island College, moving to Grande Prairie, AB to pursue my electrical apprenticeship in the oil field. I saved every cent and did what any 19-year-old with a good income would do – take off to Thailand. I backpacked my way through Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam for three months and to say it was life changing would be an understatement. Once I returned to Canada I had an epiphany. I craved change and fulfillment. I quit the oilfield, moved back to Vancouver lsland, and started working at a hotel. I took a chance on myself and applied for University.

In my early twenties I moved to Nanaimo, attended University and focused my energy on studying business. But then, I found myself in a dark and dangerous place. I was eventually diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. Regardless of this diagnosis, I wanted to better myself, so I took initiative and sought professional help. Along with completing a full course load I became certified as a BCRPA personal trainer. My passion for strength training assisted me in managing my depression and anxiety.

In 2017 I moved back to Campbell River in order to complete business studies at a more affordable institution. I began working at a local gym as a personal trainer and class instructor. I fell in love with helping my clients and watching them transform, grow, and persevere. I worked multiple jobs, attended two different universities, which required me to live in two different cities at the same time. I persevered and earned a Diploma in Business Administration. Thanks Roper for teaching me resilience.

AND HERE I AM.

I focus my energy on priorities. I spend most of my time adventuring outside, caring for my horse, experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, training hard at the gym, all the while practicing self-love. I have momentous goals that I am determined to achieve while staying fiercely authentic to my true self. My goal is to help others cultivate unshakeable confidence, by assisting them in reaching their fitness goals. If you are determined to conquer your dreams, and take charge of your future I welcome you to check out my Coaching Page. I can’t wait to work with you!

Love always,

Mic xo
